HARDWOOD

Solid & Engineered

We offer a wide selection of both solid wood and engineered wood flooring for your home or business. There are many options to choose from, with an assortment of colors.

  • SOLID WOOD – This flooring is made of solid wood throughout its thickness, from top to bottom, and is usually made of hardwood species, such as oak, maple or walnut. Its major advantage is that it can be sanded and refinished many times over the course of its lifespan. During installation a solid wood floor must be nailed to a wood sub-floor.
  • ENGINEERED WOOD – This flooring is also real wood and very similar on the surface, but is made from a relatively thin layer of hardwood bonded over a substrate of high-quality plywood. It’s typically less expensive than solid hardwood, but most types can be sanded and refinished only once since the surface layer is so thin. It’s usually made from hickory, oak, bamboo or maple, and is pre-finished, which means that it’s already sanded and sealed. There are several installation methods depending on the type and it can be nailed down, glued down or can act as a floating floor. Once the floor has been laid, it is ready to be walked on. Engineered wood flooring also works well in kitchens, basements and bathrooms where light moisture might be present. It isn’t recommended in really wet areas such basements that flood frequently or kids’ bathrooms which, as you know, tend to flood frequently.
